Alexis is currently Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he completed doctoral studies in 2018. His research focuses on British film music the 1930s.

He is a Visiting Tutor in the Animation Production department at Arts University Bournemouth.

As an Edison Fellow at the British Library Sound Archive, he is researching Francis Chagrin and his work at the BBC French Service.

At Goldsmiths, Alexis has taught composition, analysis, music and film, and media composition.

As part of his work at Goldsmiths, Alexis is reviews editor of Music, Sound, and the Moving Image, a journal published by Liverpool University Press.
