Returning to his childhood home in Edinburgh to study, he began collaborating with directors and animators from Edinburgh College of Art. This led to postgraduate training under Dario Marianelli at the Royal College of Music in London. Since then he has built up an extensive body of film work alongside concert music and arrangements.
His collaboration with the Northumbria-based poet Katrina Porteous debuted at Dartington International Summer School & Festival in 2018, and he also works regularly with the London-based poet Mick Delap. Alexis composed music and songs for Peter Billingham’s play The Drowned and the Saved in 2018.
Alexis has worked at the most prestigious film and recording studios in the world, including Shepperton, Pinewood, Abbey Road, Air Lyndhurst, Angel, RAK, and Maida Vale. His compositions have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Channel 4, TCM and at major film festivals throughout the world, including Cannes, London and Edinburgh.
